Here I am in 2020 with 4 failed relationships, on the verge of 30 years old and I've resorted to writing a review on a toilet brush. What can I say? It's a great toilet brush. It cleans very well, getting all the marks that are left behind after drinking too much Jack Daniels. The design of the brush is your typical looking brush with over 100,000 bristles and a handle large enough that you won't get covered in toilet water that looks delicious to dogs but not humans.I thought it would be larger, kinda like I thought I'd be more successful in life than I am now. So now here I am writing metaphors while listing to Radiohead about said toilet brush. It seems to me that this toilet brush will last me a while. The quality is very nice and it looks appealing. Kinda makes you want to take it out to a nice meal, date it for 4 years and then have it shatter your dreams. Also, I saw some reviews about it that says it arrived broken. Mine was in perfect condition. My amazon delivery person did a great job.
We're not talking about buying a house here. We're not a kitchen remodel or buying a 2020 Silverado HD which is around $80,000, and will be worth $16,000 less an incredible two minutes after you drive it off the dealer's lot.
Heck, unlike my failed relationships, your toilet brush will never pester you to buy a diamond engagement ring. We're talking about investing all of around $15
here, which includes shipping, which is about the price of a cheap steak at Applebee's or a movie ticket to a 3D movie which would have been far better if it was only 2D in the first place.
The things you want in a toilet brush include:
Amazon's number one toilet bowl brush, out of over 100 similar brushes sold, and the number 3rd best household brush the company carries, is the mDesign Compact Freestanding Plastic Toilet Bowl Brush and Holder for Bathroom Storage and Organization at mDesign Compact Freestanding Plastic Toilet Bowl Brush and Storage.
Being number #1 on Amazon's list means that the company probably generates several million dollars worth of profit on Amazon each year, and that's on Amazon alone. They probably see another 25 percent of their inventory on other platforms.
The two biggest features are that the toilet brush and holder is sleek, and the brush is made of plastic, which does not scratch or cause rust.
If there was such a thing as a sure-fire toilet bowl scrubber that lasted a year or two maybe, the price would come into play. However famous screenwriter William Goldman, Oscar-winning screenwriter for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid once summed up the movie business by saying, "Nobody knows anything,"
This is equally true in the toilet scrubbing business. There really are no awards for best toilet bowl cleaners, no certifications. Which leads people to discover for themselves what works best, and the fact that an under $15 toilet brush is number one on Amazon, and number 20 on Amazon's list, at $10 more, and made with wire rather than plastic says volumes.
Goldman, if he were speaking about toilet brushes probably would have said, "nobody knows how long a toilet brush will last, so why spend $10 or $20 more?
That said, people expect to get at least six months or more out of their toilet brush, and that seems to be the case for most satisfied customers of the mDesign Compact Freestanding Plastic Toilet Bowl Brush and holder get out their brush. Many people buy two at a time for each bathroom, and customers feel plastic brushes work better than wire brushes, which not only rust but unravel and scratch.
The one thing that customers love about these brushes is that even when including the holder, they are small and discrete. Everyone, including guests, knows that toilet brushes are necessary but that doesn't mean they have to be big enough to overpower the decor of your bathroom. No matter how small the bathroom space, these brushes, and holders fit in discretely with the decor.
A surprising, and innocuous feature of the brush, which does come in different colors, is that the black or dark brushes don't look like they have been dropped in a sewer as compared to many brushes that are white.
People do know these brushes help people eliminate stains when people go number 2, right? But where do the stains go when they come in contact with the brush. Of course, they blend into the brush.
So a black or dark brush was frequently mentioned as a top feature as to why they bought this particular brand of brush.
As mentioned already, this is the best selling toilet brush on Amazon. But it get high marks from other review sites. For example, SVMS labeled the mDesign its number two brush, out of 10 Brushes reviewed at https://www.svms.org/toilet-brushes-and-holders/,
And Ruby Tuesday, also gave the mDesign it's number 2 rating out of 10 brushes rated in its 2019 review at https://rubytuesdaytt.com/best-slim-toilet-brush/.
Recognizing again that nobody knows anything, they just know what they like, we offer three alternatives:

This is a disposable cleaning brush with six disposable cleaning heads that pop off.You get one use out of each cleaning head, then you throw them away and pop on a new head.Because these are one-use pads, not only do send more money overall, but it's not as if the cleaning heads which are made of foam do a super job of cleaning, you can't really use the heads below the water-line, and you can't use the heads on the outside of the bowl. Still many people like them because short of hiring a maid, they can hardly stomach the idea of cleaning a normal brush that has been in the toilet.

Perhaps the most hygenic toilet brush of the group, this is a high-feature brush made out of silicone. Customers, in general, seem to like the alternative of a silicon brush as compared to and the price is comparable to the mDesign, however, quite a few customers noted that the bristles were too stiff to clean well. In addition, the handle and brush, which screws together in two pieces, tend to unwind if you brush counter-clockwise.

For a few dollars more you can get a metallic looking toilet brush that comes with a slotted ring. The brush works well, and this is number 10 among Amazon's list of toilet brushes, however, there are complaints that brushes, while long-lasting, have a great tendency to rust.
People have a life far beyond toilet bowl brushes so whatever works for you is fundamentally what works best. But the mDesign works well for 6 to 10 months, is small, discrete, and won't scratch your porcelain.
